Modern Nostalgia Meets Modern Hospitality
The Beachwalk Motel, formerly known as Hotel de Ville, underwent a complete rebrand to resolve trademark issues tied to its legacy name. Transitioning a historic property requires a strategic balance—resolving legal constraints while honoring the building’s nostalgic soul. We partnered with Frazier Companies to guide the property through a full brand transformation, managing naming, verbal identity, and visual design.

Navigating the transition meant helping the owner move away from the original name. By diving into city archives, we uncovered the motel’s mid-century origins as the Gulf Coast Motor Inn. This research inspired “The Beachwalk Motel”—a fresh name that satisfied legal requirements while capturing the vibrant, laid-back coastal lifestyle of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Our design team crafted a visual identity inspired by classic 1980s motor inns, placing an elegant script logo over a deep ocean blue backdrop with vibrant coral starburst accents. The visual system features retro typography and location stamps (“CRP TEX”) that honor the motel’s Gulf Coast heritage while establishing a polished, boutique look.
To ensure a seamless brand experience on-site, we applied the new visual language across physical touchpoints including exterior signage, staff uniforms, and branded merchandise. The distinct illustrations and vibrant color palette give the physical property an instantly recognizable, retro-chic atmosphere.
The final brand package delivered a modern twist on retro hospitality across all print collateral, room keycards, and guest welcome kits. By uniting the property’s rich heritage with contemporary design, Beachwalk Motel now stands out with a memorable identity built to attract modern travelers.
