RS Bristows
R.S. Bristow’s has been a cornerstone of Urbanna, Virginia for nearly 150 years. My goal was to create a new brand identity and merchandise system that honored the store’s rich history while connecting it more deeply to the character of the town.
The rebrand drew inspiration from three defining elements: the store’s 150-year heritage, Urbanna’s small-town waterfront charm, and the region’s longstanding connection to oysters. I developed a refreshed visual identity and a line of merchandise that blended historic authenticity with a modern, memorable look, celebrating both the legacy of R.S. Bristow’s and the culture that makes Urbanna a destination.

For RS Britows, we developed a versatile logo suite—three distinct logo variations designed to work seamlessly across merch, print, and digital applications. We paired this with a refined color palette of oyster cream, sand, seafoam green, and navy blue, giving the brand a cohesive, elevated look that adapts naturally across every format it appears in.
We evolved RS Britows’s messaging from “Home of the Good Goods” to “A Century and a Half of Good Goods”—a shift that puts their 150-year heritage front and center. The new line carries the same warmth and simplicity of the original while giving customers an immediate sense of the legacy and trust behind the brand.
To bring some fun and personality into the mix, we created a set of playful merch slogans that celebrate RS Britows’s roots in the river community of Urbanna, VA—”Stay for the Oysters,” “The Oyster Social Club,” and “The World Is Your Oyster.” Each line taps into the laid-back, coastal charm of the area, giving customers something fun to wear and share while staying true to the brand’s heritage.
